Ken joined Plessey in 1965 as a computer programmer, later becoming a project manager. In 1992, following Plessey's takeover by GEC, he was elected to the North West PCC, representing the GEC Marconi Secure Systems site in Liverpool. He took early retirement in 2001, continuing as a PCC pensioner representative. Ken has been the PCC secretary since 1998.
